What is Wali Woo?

Wali Woo is a smart, intuitive and easy-to-use mobile application, facilitating Islamic marriages in a 100% halal and convenient way. The prospective bride and groom’s wali or parent is in full control, giving them a halal platform to fulfil their responsibilities, in’sha’Allah.

Who is a wali?

Theoretically, a wali is a male, Muslim guardian of a female (usually their daughter). However, in the context of Wali Woo, it is any responsible and sane Muslim adult who guides and oversees the marriage process of an adult Muslim male or female, either in their direct care, or entrusted to their care. This could be a father, brother, uncle, mother, aunty, grandparent etc.

Why should I download the app and register a profile?

Wali Woo offers you an easy, simple-to-use and navigate mobile application that will, in’sha’Allah, assist you in finding the perfect spouse for your son or daughter. You can rest assured that you will ONLY communicate with other like-minded walis of your choice, thereby safeguarding your loved ones and introducing them to potential spouses who are seeking a purely halal and blessed start to married life.

Is every profile genuine?

Upon registration, every wali agrees to a privacy agreement policy, agreeing to our strict requirements of only walis & parents creating and managing profiles. We expect communicate with the prospective bride or groom every step of the way, in the interest of their happiness and wellbeing, and to ensure their preferences come first.

How do you verify each profile to make sure they are genuine?

Every profile goes through an approval process to verify the details submitted by users and to check whether they violate the conditions set by Wali Woo.

Step 1 – Profile validation ensures only genuine profiles are live on the app.
Step 2 – Profiles, including suitability of images, are manually checked.
Step 3 – Users’ mobile numbers are verified.
Step 4 – Users are then authorised to go live.

Is online payment secure?

Yes! Our payment gateway provider adopts the SSL (Secured Socket Layer) technology, an internationally proven and widely accepted technology. Rest assured that your debit or credit card details are kept secure through every transaction, preventing unauthorised access.

What are the Do's and Don'ts of creating a profile?

Sincere and honest conversations with the prospective bride or groom’s wali or parent is crucial. Describe in brief your son or daughter’s interests, character, goals, ambition and what they expect from a spouse. Try and complete the profile that will reveal more about who your ward is. Add a recent photograph that is clear for a better response. Do present only factual information. The more the prospect knows, the better your chances of finding a suitable life partner.

Do’s:

Do enter a working and valid mobile number to receive SMS and to verify your profile.

Photos will boost your chances of success. Include photos of family members in your gallery. After all, marriages also bring families together.

Be brief in description and stick to your point.

Use a working email to check on your mails from prospective walis and us.

Be sincere and honest with correct intentions. Allah is ever watchful.

Don’ts:

Do not mention your contact details anywhere else in your profile other than in the space given for it.

Avoid indecent language – profiles will be banned immediately.

Make sure pictures are appropriate and respect Islamic etiquettes.

Why should I complete my profile?

Complete profiles get better and more responses. It is the best possible way to find a match more effectively and efficiently. Our registration process has been simplified so you are not spending a long time detailing every aspect of your prospective bride or groom.

How will I know if a member has accepted/declined my interest?

You will be notified via an app notification when a member accepts or declines your interest. You can also login to your account and tap the notifications icon to know how many members have accepted or declined your interest.

How do I register?

Download the Wali Woo app from the Android or iOS app store. Select ‘New user’ and complete the easy set up process with a few taps and voila! You’re ready to speak to a wali!

How do I log into the app?

Once you download Wali Woo and register your profile with a secure and verified mobile number, you simply tap on the app and use it on the go. If you wish to use Wali Woo on a new device, you will be prompted to verify and confirm your details used at the registration stage.

Are my details secure?

Your details are completely secure and you have full control over who can view your profile, gallery and contact details. We have additional privacy controls, such as blurred images, hide contact details and block profiles.

Why do I have to pay? What’s the difference between a free profile and a paid profile?

We deliberately keep our membership costs to a minimum. Our primary purpose is to create a halal, sincere and positive platform. A small financial commitment ensures our app is continuously updated and reviewed for new features making your experience even better. It also ensures our users are serious and committed. We do not offer multiple, often confusing, membership options. You either create a free profile, or one simple, value-for-money ‘gold’ profile, with the option to cancel any time you wish.

In a bid to seek additional baraqah in our efforts – for us and all our users – a portion of your membership fee will go to the Muslim Marriage Fund, which helps finance weddings desperate parents are simply unable to facilitate due to crippling poverty.

I don’t want my photos to be seen without my approval. What safeguards are there?

You can opt to make your photos visible, blurred or blocked. Upon request, you can choose to enable viewing.

Can I be specific in my search for a prospective bride or groom? Can I set up alerts?

Wali Woo uses matching AI-based algorithms that compare new user profiles with other profiles that are already in the database and suggests relevant matches. Smart-search filter allows you to search for walis using a wide range of preferences, from location and education, to levels of Islamic practice. You can set up alerts to receive instant emails and updates of matching profiles.

What information from my profile will be displayed to other members?

Free members can only see basic bio data, which includes name, age, height and location and ONE picture, only if this has been enabled. They can also express a ‘like’ and see ‘likes’ that they’ve received. However, they cannot respond, send or receive personalised messages or contact details.

Gold members can see full profiles and request to see full galleries of other users. They can send unlimited messages and exchange contact details, amongst other benefits.

Will my mobile number be shared with everyone?

Your mobile number will not be shared as we take your privacy very seriously. Paid members can view your contact details if your partner preferences match with another profile, only after you grant permission.

What is ‘Like’ and ‘Send Message’? How can I contact other members?

Initiating contacts with other walis is FREE. You can contact other users that you like by liking their profile or expressing an interest. Simply use the swipe and tap gestures on the app. Members will receive a notification from you. They will then choose to respond to your interest by Accepting or Declining, after viewing your profile
